Hi Everyone,

For my coming trip in mid-October I thought of staying at the PBR (Pattaya Bay Resort) since it's so popular amongst fellow BMs, but I have one concern.
In previous trips I stayed at the Sunshine on Soi 8 and loved the location for the following reasons:
1. A 7-11 / Family Mart right next door.
2. Good options for breakfast (since i never wake up early enough for the included one).
3. Good massage parlours (non-sex) short distance away.

Does the PBR have those as well?
There are no photos of its area in the pattaya photo guide.

And another question - am I supposed to tip the hotel tuk-tuk every time I use it to get to walking street?

THANKS!

You will have to trek through 'The Avenue' and across 2nd Road or to Soi Buakhao / Soi Diana for anything near to PBR - not a great distance admittedly, but probably further than when you stayed on Soi 8. Some good breakfast options on Soi Lengkee (Juice), Chaiyapoon (canterbury Tales) or Xcyte (Continental Bakery).

I think it's got a good location, and walking 2 minutes isn't a problem. I never have taken the Tuk Tuk to get to walking street when I stayed there - unless your 70 and walking with a cane, there's no reason.

There's a great 24 hour supermarket in the Avenue Mall, and it has a GREAT little restaurant in it. It's literally 2 minutes from the PBR lobby to the supermarket and restaurant, and both kick ass over any Family Mart or 7-11 anywhere in LOS, and the restaurant was so good I probably ate 1/4 of my meals there when I stayed at PBR.

Go for it.
