saw one programme in vietnam, these 2 chefs were travelling around the world eating weird stuff from various continents, and the only place they refused to eat anything was in south east asia, vietnam.
they refused to eat dog, and when they went rat hunting, a vietnamese guy caught a rat from a sewer and was going to serve them this, they refused, however the chefs did say that if the rat came from a paddy field rather than a sewer they would of ate it.
i get the tom tits if i look at spicey food, to hell with eating weird stuff, also why do the japanese not get food poisoning from raw fish?? i was always told that fish and chicken must always be cooked properly before stuffing my fat face :Rolling:

Eating dogs common place in Issan. The ants often found in cooking are meant to impart a lemon like taste. Often in a residence outside you will see a tree that has a colony of leaf eating ants, the ones that pull the big leaves together to make their nest, red and like to bite. The thais put some food down, sometimes small grubs and the ants come on down to cart it away and end up in the cooking pot. Pretty much anything can be eaten in Issan because food can be scarce.
