Have done the bus out of Ekamai to Pattaya many times, but am closer to Mor Chit now and wondering how it compares.
I imagine it's a wash, but curious about anyone's experience.

I've done it once - my memory is that the journey is longer since you have to get to the East of Bangkok, there are not so many buses running per day and the one I was on was decidely older than the Ekamai buses I have been on..
I've also done it by minibus which is just as tedious, but faster!

should be nearly the same but maybe not quie as many buses - as they use motorway - it should only add about 20 mins
or maybe not even that as you can get stuck in traffic on the way to ekamai

When I'm trvaelling light I always take the mini vans now, they are cheaper, faster and I like the drop off points.
The main BKK mini van I use runs from Victory Monument - there are several companies, I always go for the one that costs 97bht, simply because I can't read Thai but can spot the 97bht sign.
Same goes for Pattaya to BKK. You can see the stand on South Pattaya Road almost opposite Coffee & Beer. The lady sat at the fold up table, sign in Thai but you can spoty the large red 97bht text. They seem to roughly run every hour, 8 til 8.
More times than not they are almost empty and you sit there with your legs up on 3 seats scratching your head as to how they make any money. Then finally you get the last one back at 8pm and are crammed with 2 dozen sweaty Thais, a crying baby and a distraught chicken in a box, and it all makes sense.. Oh yeah, try to avoid the 8pm runs..
