They issued similar flights a a year or so ago, but back then, £450-500 was easily the going rate elsewhere which made this Air Asia flight not worth it due to the smaller seating and pay for 'EVERYTHING' on board for drinks, meals, snacks, low luggage levels etc.
I'll have a look as I need to book a few internal flights. I'll see if there are good deals on that.

I have been looking at flights for a friend coming Dec 17th to Jan 7th, peak dates.. He is about to book tomorrow and the best price we'd found was £1200. Air Asia are doing it for £650, he'll be well chuffed.
He'll probably find a few add ons and it might not be a great flight, but that's a fantastic price for those dates.

you need to keep trying different combinations of dates.. the earlier in december you can fly the cheaper it will be,
also the air asia website itself seems to have different prices.. sometimes they show the promo price and you come back 1 hour later and its gone.. and hour later its back again...
also you could just try booking a RTN to kuala lumpur and do the KL - BKOK leg seperately
Im thrilled as it was sheer luck and completely by chance that i checked it.. i had planned on Xmas in the UK .. instead i will be kicking it in LOS !!

I don't think he's under any illusions and won't expect anything more than a flying tin can with potentially grumpy jobsworth staff. He's over the moon.
With the luggage add ons (15KG but no food) it took the flight price up to £721 (inc any annoying last minute £21 card charge). But with other flights on his non flexible dates over £1200 and including 5 hour stop overs, his trip was in doubt.

checking a bag and any food or drink you have. I half expected they'd charge me for my seat belt. It was
OK for the 70 minute flight, but I wouldn't want to use them if they went from Atlanta to LOS. I won't use
an American airline for that trip either.

I think its a sign of the times with budget carriers. The air your breath will soon be additional costs due to the 'ever increasing costs for air purification and conditioning on aircrafts".
Here in the UK, on Easy Jet (one of the busiest budget carriers), they charge £20 for checking in a bag !!
A short 45 minute flight may only cost £20, but if you were checking in a bag, choosing your seat, priority boarding etc, you are looking at a £70 cost. Just mental !
As for Air Asia. Flown with them internally many times. Have found their service to flawless and punctual to the heartbeat. Need to watch the carry on luggage weight I believe.
What have you guys found these days....are they uber strict with the carry on luggage weight ?

Cheap too - 1250 for one way plus 20 kilo bag which makes it about £30.
I did Air Berlin back here in September (peeps might want to check that out too via Dusseldorf) and that was packed sardine tight but only £309 one way and was cheaper than Air India!

Oh yes... Air Berlin (ex LTU)... sitting in sardine-can-like beaten old Airbus 330 with 2m+ Norvegian guy on my left and with Helga The Prison Guard as a service lady... I miss my first flight to Thailand.
I fly Air Asia many times but this time I got better deal from Bangkok Air to Chiang Mai. In the end Bangkok Air was 400 THB cheaper.
But then again... for 100 or 200 THB more I would fly Bangkok Air any time.
