New Pattaya clampdown – going topless in bars banned!

Long an ugly menace in Fun Town, with acres of (usually Eastern European) male, blubbery, beery fat wobbling all over the place, Pattaya's city fathers have finally decided to get tough and ordered police to secretly clamp down on the unsightly flesh mess polluting Pattaya’s sois.
Our photographer was on hand recently when the first foreigner in Fat Town was fined for not wearing a shirt.
According to our secret source, from now on, all shirtless Eastern European men found shamelessly parading around Pattaya with their pot bellies proudly poking out of their too-small shirts, will be arrested and fined, with deportation and imprisonment used only as a last resort.
Pattaya’s bar owners have also been stitched up and pressed into service with the warning: “no more topless Russian blokes in your bars”.
This comes as a relief to those of us for whom the sight of a hairy pair of size 56 knockers on a drunken fat bloke with an open shirt, or no shirt at all, does nothing except make us feel ill, drink up and leave.
However, one shirty bar owner fumed: “If I have to ban topless Russian men, who’ll be left to buy drinks”?
Nobody at City Hall had the slightest clue what we were talking about when we called for a comment, "proving there is indeed a secret clampdown going on", our reported added.

They should also fine the very fat arsed (figure challenged) women wearing bikinis ...

Whether you're built like Mr Universe or Rab C. Nesbitt, it's very bad form to strut around without a shirt in Thailand (whatever your impression of Pattaya). Not surprising that some get a raw deal from the locals.

This can only be a good thing. But a "secret clampdown" seems pointless. Just distribute signs to put up in all the bars, with warnings about the fines in Russian and English. Sounds like a good way for the police to increase family income while making Pattaya a better place for us all.

I think maybe I am being thick here but was this thread not started a little tongue in cheek, I was under the impression that this was a joke, I run each day with no shirt down sea front .

its another matter on the beach,and especially in the daytime, but personally i find it okay that they have to put on a tshirt or similar in the evening,after all this is Thailand and we have to follow their rules...

I fully agree as I wouldnt dream of wandering about shirtless especially in shopping mall or in evening, I genuinely thought someone had posted this as a piss take of people with big guts wandering around shirtless mainly because I have a mate who is a hobby bobby(tourist police for non brits) who said there was no such law or city ordinance he was aware of.

Saw the tourist police tell someone who looked like a Russian to put his shirt on in walking street at about 23:30 last night. Must have been to cover up the man boobs
