never carry a wallet, only enough money for your needs of the moment , keep shit like coins for Bongo Bus in one pocket a few hundred in another, a couple of 500s in another and 2k in the sock, pick pocket will only get 1 pocket so worse case he gets 1k, gang with knives on Ice ,turn out all your pockets a little bit more but nowt worth getting stabbed for, if you want to carry ID then copy of passport, me I never bother, I have used this principle in many of the worlds crap holes I have had the misfortune to either visit or been sent to and never lost more than a couple of quid on the odd occasion while legless.
A money belt keeps you pretty safe from a pick pocket or sneak thief but I have seen tourists with their clothes in tatters after being jumped on by a gang looking for a money belt but not in LOS I hasten to add.
