From Bkk you have more choice of airline, if you go from Pattaya Utapo then only bangkok air.
each takes around the same time door to door.

Id keep logging into Airasia when your ready to book, they come up with promo flights all the time,
so one day its 1400 the next it could be 500 so when ready to book monitor them for the week. But this choice would mean going Bkk--Phuket

Fie no problem going back up to Bkk, gives me a reason to hit up my favorite soapy for a few hrs!
