lets say ive internet connection in pattaya of 6mbit, and i want to acces my NAS at home(europe) for movies, music, photos

will it be fast enough(long distance, multiple routes) to download/ upload or even streaming videos when im in thailand?

If you've got 6mbp/s (or even 1), and your home connection is up to it, no problem. Distance (measured by hops between routers) will degrade the connection in theory, but probably only only noticeable for voice. File transfers will be fine. Your firewall will let you connect, though, right?

This is my experience:

- Internet in Thailand is often unstable, but the last years it has gotten much better
- I stream TV from my home and on 4 and 6 mbit lines I tend to max out around 1 - 1.5mbit on GOOD days.
- For downloads it is a bit different since you can use download managers and have multiple threads, I've reached 400+ kb/s for 4mbit lines from EU and US and 500+kb/s for 6mbit

So for download/upload it should be just fine, but use download managers to use multiple threads to utilize the bandwidth. For streaming you probably need some intelligent protocol/stream where the stream dynamically changes the bitrate based on the current bandwidth.

thanks for the info,home connection is 50mbit, NAS is a synology ds211J, i can connect from other locations here

good to know file transfer will be fine than(i use freedownloadmanager),
streaming would also be nice but isnt necessary if i can download the files and watch after

and photo/videos i will make can be easy uploaded than like nude pics, vids of lb's




some another question:

-are there certain sites blocked in thailand like torrents, porn, .......?

-i assume the risk is very low when you take external hd/laptop filled with movies, music with you but if custums find the files i think the fine will be very high

so thats also the reason i wanted to use remote acces nas so i can fill laptop with data(porn, movies, music) there and erase when i go back

I can't imagine that customs would have any interest in your laptop or drive unless they suspected you of bringing drugs or something more interesting in. Just head for the "nothing to declare" line. That said, music and movies wouldn't be an issue, though porn is technically illegal.

The real thing, no problem. Pictures of the real thing, can't have that.

If you're concerned about privacy, check out TrueCrypt (truecrypt.org). You can set up a virtual encrypted disk as either a file or a partition, with options for hiding it. Once you mount it, it looks like just another disk to you.

and I don't know about your sexual prowess, but when I'm in the LOS, I maybe fuck during two hours every day, but somehow I have to fill the rest of the time with some activity!

im gonna stay 4 months in Thailand and internet can be helpfull than

and once in a while watch a movie with lb or gogo can be fun too if you spend longer time with her,
