Besides I like to know for sure where I'll be staying, don't want to have to move after a couple of days if there's no vacancies. April Suites sounds ideal for me, near to the Soi 6 and Soi 7 (Bar Anaconda). It will cost £873 and the flight is £633 so £1,510 so far for 3 weeks.
But I used to go longhaul every February usually Goa or Cuba, and that cost around £1,500 for 2 weeks.
So it's still relatively cheap with the addded advantage of ladyboys.
Wish I'd known about this Skywards Club earlier. The same flights were £640 about 10 days ago, so I'd have paid about £570 with the 10% discount. Still I'm glad it's all booked up now.
Hope to meet you while I'm out there. I'm interested in meeting Pear from Pooks. She sounds like my sort of girl - petite with boltons. If you can recommend anyone else like that I'd appreciate it.

EDIT: OK I am going nuts, started again on Emirates under my Skywards number and got £662 so did the deed...

I'll wait a bit to see if the Emirates flights come down as the takeoff times are better for me.
Add: Thanks for suggesting the ASDA Travel site Kendo. Qutar Airways flights for my dates shown on there for £597 with shorter stopovers. I tried logging onto the Quatarairways.com site to see what the prices were on there, but couldn't get a quote. Will try again on there later.
I worked out what I was doing wrong on the Qatar site and got a quote of £611, which is good as the stopovers and total flight times are shorter. I flew with Qatar last year and they were very good except that the flights to Doha were delayed each way, so it was a quick dash through the terminal to catch the outgoing flight.

Join Sky Awards, doesn't take to many flights in a year to go from their Entry Blue card to the Silver Card, once you've got that your punted up the free upgrade to Business class list, can jump the que at the gate and use the Emirates lounge down by gate 123, (opposite the Irish Pub) at Dubai Airport. Free beer, (its about £7 a pint in the Irish pub) free snacks, WiFi comfy chairs. Once you get your gold card you can use the Business class lounge in the newer wing even if flying Economy, but in my opinion the one by gate 123 is more relaxing but its a bit of a power hike to get there.
But definitely join Sky Awards, because the last 5 flights I've done this year, I've had 4 free upgrades to business class on the Dubai to Bangkok leg. Not been so successful on the London - Dubai leg, but working on it. If you get your Gold card, regardless of which class your in they come and give you the fast track immigration ticket for Bangkok, (Keep walking past the visa on arrival at Bangkok airport and theres desks with a max of one or two people) saves a lot of standing in line at busy time. Incidently there is also a dedicated desk there for flight transfers, I assume if heading straight off to Phuket or other connecting flight, might be worth checking out. a gold card works at Dubai immigration to as part of their E Gate fast track system if your stopping over in Dubai.
Etihad and Emirates as far as pricing goes seem to work together, one will be cheaper than the other for a period, then they swop around and the other has the better deal. Flew out of Bangkok with Etihad last month, and the staff on the basis of one flight were or appeared far more happy and costumer focused. Abu Dhabi Airport a lot nicer than Dubai as more compact so less marching around and if your a smoker a big smoking room, not the usual gas kill rooms, right by the restaurants and bars, but you can smoke in the Emirates lounges in Dubai.
If it wasn't for the free upgrades I'm getting on a regular basis, and access to the lounges with free beer at Dubai, I'd probably give Etihad a longer try out, just because of the Staff Care, but I've got a gold card with Emirates and getting free upgrades is my aim as it makes such a big difference.

Just as well it's 11 months away so should get a reasonable price before then.
