'...Before I came to live in Thailand I always used this website to book hotels in Bangkok: http://www.latestays.com/

You need to book something close to Nana Plaza or Patpong either on Silom Road or Surawong Road, to be close to the LB nightlife. Silom Road and Surawong Road are at opposite ends to Patpong with Patpong in the middle.

As a tuk tuk ride almost anywhere in the centre of Bangkok will cost you no more than 40 baht and a taxi 60 - 80 baht, depending on how good you are at negotiating, even if you're not within walking distance, it won't cost much to get to the centre of the action.

Of course, as with any big city, not everything is concentrated in the same area, so Nana Plaza is not within walking distance of Patpong and you need to go to both.

As I have stayed at the Pavilion Place, right in the heart of Patpong, I can recommend the rooms. Standard Room 1,200/per night. Try for a discount. There is even a LB bar right next door called Club Pinnochio. This is in Patpong 2: http://www.pavilionplace.com/

There is also the SkyTrain. Easy enough to use but it might be confusing if it's your first visit and, although faster than a taxi as it runs on rails above the city and so avoids the traffic, it can often be as expensive as a tuk tuk, although this is still cheap.

You're in for a wonderful surprise. I still remember my first time in Bangkok. Your outlook on life will never be the same again'.

Thanks
There is room at Majestic suites for a single superior at 1400 a night.
A good choice?
Or in your opinion would Pavilion Place be better?
I assume both are LB and overnite guest friendly
Should I get that in writing from them?

'...I have never stayed at Majestic Suites so cannot offer a comparison.

Pavilion Place is good and Patpong has many-many LB bars. They are definitely LB and bar girl friendly as they even have rooms set aside for short-time at 500 baht. Many sex workers bring their clients there.

Most, if not all hotels will need your lady to leave her ID card at reception for collection when she leaves. This is quite normal and she will not be fazed by this.

Some hotels ask for extra money if she is staying overnight, which is acceptable if you have booked a single room. If you have booked a double room and have paid for the room, rather than per person, but are occupying it alone, then refuse to pay extra.

If the night security moan about you bringing a lady back, just give him a tip to have a drink and he'll happily fall asleep. Thailand is very laid back.

You will never get a hotel to put in writing that they are LadyBoy-friendly. I am in no way laughing at you as it is a most reasonable and good idea, but knowing how Thailand works, it is also amusing, so forgive me.

As I said before, I am really quite envious of you as the buzz you get on your first visit to Bangkok is always diluted on subsequent visits, even though I still get a buzz everytime I go, which is at least once-per-month.

Ask away, my friend. If I can help - I will!

Majestic Suites is great for Nana - just round the corner. Rooms are a little small but it's a fine hotel. Problem is that it's often fully booked as it's a small hotel and very popular

For your budget, another option is Dynasty Inn - almost next door to Nana Plaza http://www.dynastyin...yInnBangkok.htm

If you are on a budget, I had one night in Nap-Inn. Great location next to Nana.
http://www.nap-inn.com/
900 baht for what they call a 'suite' room. It basically a decent sized double room.
Nicely furnished (especially for the price).
Its a hop-skip-and-a-jump to Nana Plaza and Guess Bar (at Rajah Hotel car park Soi 4)
Also consider Kings Castle 3 in Pat Pong for LB Action
NEP - Casanova 2nd floor, Obsessions (2nd floor though not as glam) and 3rd floor has a a couple of LB places.

Sorry to contradict Magician, but if you get in a Tuk Tuk, I dont know any that will charge less than 100 baht per journey. I speak Thai so its not a newbie issue. Im starting to think they are all owned/controlled by a cartel and are instructed that you will not charge less than this. Im sure there will be some BMs who will now come back with stories that they got cheaper. There are always exceptions to the rule.
If you are comfortable with motorbikes and dont have many bags to carry, jump on a motorbike taxi (between 20 and 80 baht depending on the distance).
If the traffic isnt too bad and you have bags to carry, get in a taxi meter and make sure he agrees to the meter being switched on before you get in the cab.
For rush hour traffic (4pm-8pm) learn to use the sky train. It truly has revolutionised travelling in BKK. There are info booths at each station that will help you where to change trains etc.

For Majestic Suites, you don't need to get it in writing. Its a mongers hotel. They expect you to bring a guest back.

If you intend to stay there, why not book with us at 1,308 Baht per night.

Jelloboy,

I highly recommend you take Tim at ThaiHotelDiscounts up on his offer (I have no affiliation or personal reward from this recommendation).

many of the BMs here and on the Pattaya Addicts site use him. He is a westerner living/working in Bangkok and understands 100% the service we expect and can deal with the, sometimes, lethargic abilities of Thai industry on our behalf.

My booking with him was not the biggest, but the attention to detail was second to none. I can say that hand on heart. I guarantee you will not have any complaint if you go through him. His prices are cheaper than booking direct with most hotels.

All the best on your trip to Bangkok !
