I'm not sure if it is the best in Pattaya, but the best steak I had in Pattaya was at Patricks, opposite of Mike Shopping Mall, 2nd road.

Not a bargain, but it melts on your tongue.

O.

Thanks for the recommendation!.  When over in that promenade it's usually either Big Horn or Beefeater for me.  And both those are tasty.  Will try Patricks next time.

If you make it over to Jomtien check out Rich Man, Poor Man restaurant on Soi 8 or 9 Jomtien Beach road.  Steaks from the grill and all food is delicious and very very reasonably priced.

The tenderloin at Pan Pan in Central Mall is recommended and under 500 baht.  Manhattans had good meat years ago, but then changed management and the food went to shit. Then properly went out of business.

It's been a few years but also remember the steakhouse at the Marriot and the cubed steak from Mantra.  Both high quality & high priced but melted in the mouth.  Would not recommend either steakhouse at the Hilton.  Both those are low quality yet high priced.  The worst combination.

I've never tried this, and again maybe just slightly off topic, but since i live only a couple of hours flight away, I think I'm going to bring some good quality frozen steaks and give 30Thb to one of those BBQ carts to cook it up for me.

In fact, it just gave me an idea to to something in that mold and make a "steak night" at one of the bars.

I'm sure Solice wouldn't be opposed... (would he?)

slightly off topic, but in Bangkok it is The New York Steakhouse at the JW Marriott

In Bangkok New York Steakhouse is great but also El Gaucho's on Sukhumvit 19 is more relaxed and Steaks also Great!

New York Steakhouse and El Gaucho have been my favourite choices over the years, but I recently tried the RR&B on the 31st floor of The Landmark and was very impressed. Great variety of steaks on offer combined with impeccable service and a terrific BKK skyline view at a similar pricing level to the NY Steakhouse.

I had a 400g Jack Creek "Wagyu" Rib-Eye at Steak & Co.  which was very good.  I liked the place and my only complaint is it took a while before we got the food.

My list of best steakhouses in Pattaya is:

* Beefeater - been excellent quality for years

* Steak & Co - new place looks really good, will be back!

* Golf Club steak nights (Wed, Sat, Sun) - varies from excellent to average, but worth a try.  a bit cheaper than the 2 others

In my opinion Sizzler is very average.  I've had steaks at various restaurants at the Hilton also but I really cannot recommend it.  Overpriced and average quality.

Maybe we need a similar thread about ribs?  I used to love the ribs from Bob's BBQ, but he sadly closed down some years ago :(

Am curious to know where is two hours from Pattaya and produces good beef ?

Although I have never been there, I see that Café Des Amis on Thapphraya 11 is No.1 rated restaurant in Pattaya (out of 581) on Tripadvisor.  Reviewers say that the Argentinian steaks are to die for. I would always go for Argentinian steak over any other steak, so I will make a beeline there soon! Also I will be trying El Gaucho in Bangkok for the same reason.

Although it is highly rated on this thread, my one and only visit to Beefeater in Pattaya was disappointing. My steak was tasteless and chewy. .. but maybe I was just unlucky.

I would be interested to hear if anyone here has tried Café des Amis and what they thought about it.

Never been there myself, but I've tried a lot of places from TA around the world and found that most of the time (of course not always) a high placement on TA only means good marketing and says very little about the food.

(And there will be a short rant in my upcoming TR about a few highly rated places in Pattaya... )
