Seven Indian men were arrested and fined by Chonburi Immigration Police on Wednesday for failing to register their correct residential address with authorities.

The unnamed men were fined and photographed before being sent on their way leaving behind 28,000 baht in fines, and their correct addresses.

This is the third such case to be posted on the official Chonburi Immigration website in the past two weeks, with a Brit and a Burmese national also being fined the same amount for the same offence.

I agree that rules are rules and should be followed, however, there’s a lot more serious crimes being commuted by foreigners in Pattaya than marking the wrong address down on immigration forms.

Seems to happen more and more.
And it is about "failing" to report addresses, not reporting "incorrect" addresses...
As a longstayer, you are obliged by Thai law to inform Immigration within 24 hours !!! about changing your address (e.g. when renting another condo). Has to be done with the so-called TM 28 form. (The landlord has to do it also with the TM 30 form. However, this alone is not sufficient, the "alien" has to report for himself.)

Until recently, TM 28 was not enforced ...

if you go to Russia you must advise them where you will be staying for the duration of your stay and register this with authorities ( you can only I think still obtain a visa to Russia if you are either on an organised tour or have an invitation to visit Russia from a Russian Citizen) - restricted areas are not listed and the Russian authorities can request to see your passport and entry visa at anytime and deport you at any time for failure to abide by their laws at will. - no difference to Thailand it seems
