Pattaya going downhill?

Yes it's true. People will say the police have done this before, it's just a phase etc etc, however this has been ongoing for a while now and it's not decreasing, it's increasing. Pattaya is changing and the powers that be are going ahead with those changes.

Ah not good. I'm going in December for 4 weeks

Still plenty of places to go, bars will always flirt with the restrictions and many get away with it.

Soi 6 is being made to not open before 6pm, however, soi 6 licensing has always been this time, so it's nothing new the authorities are just making them adhere to the licensing hours, same as they are with alot of bars closing times

I was in the US for almost 2 weeks and got back Sunday. Went out for the 1st time tonight since I've been back and it's almost like a ghost town-:). I'm not a veteran of this time of year, until I moved here always came in Oct Nov, but it's almost deserted. Very sad indeed

i am not quite sure why so many Bm's are  fretting so much,,we JUST  had a threat highlighting those changes,, i am confidant a restricted and subdued PATTAYA  would still be wild with plenty of things to do for most of our westerners standards, some who come from little towns in rep of ireland, scotland, the netherlands, or texas,USA,,SO why sweat it ?

i mean for heavens sakes some dudes who never want to stay out in pattaya clubs past 1 : 00 AM now there are worried  as to why some club are closing  at 3 instead of 4 am

For me its fine, I do most of my 'appointments' online which is as vibrant as ever and that for me is the main reason the bar scene is struggling. Coyote bars are still doing fine as well as  the flagship bars too I've no problem that  'dive' bars and crap massage sheds are going out of business. The government will succeed in changing the face of Pattaya but everyone will still be able to find fun for sure. Although hardcore Chang swiggers may struggle after midnight or before 6pm.

point very well made.. some folks who are used to having 3 or 4 clubs in their entire town and they are basically without any business aftrer 8 pm and forced to close by 9  are now freaking coz clubs in pattaya are closing at 2 or 3 am during their 3 week stay there,,laughable

a downhill pattaya is still more than what 98 % of us westerners can handle night after night for months,,

Agree that the scene will always be here , the presentation will change to some degree ...websites / agencies / low profile bars , maybe even a new scene will start further out ..On the Darkside e.g.)

Coyotte Bars ?

Is this the GoGo where they have great looking GGs who are not keen to barfine ?

Or is it bars with older MILF GGs

On the subject of bar fines , do the GGS in Windmill barfine ?

Well said. People from strict stick in the mud western countries can still come here and have infinately more fun than they could back home for a fration of the cost.

This has always been on the cards and I think Pattaya will just adapt to it all.

Party on.

I first came to LoS in'88, in Phuket the bars opened at 4 and were shut by 11pm...BKK Bars open at 2 and shut by 12:30; we just started earlier.

The plus side being you got a decent nights kip and were on the beach or doing other things during the day. It may also help the bars with a more focussed customer base rather than dragging it out for 12 hours.  B)

Look I would have to agree. If I go out at 6 ,I'm finished by 12.30. If I go out at 8, I'm still finished by 12.30. Sure I can blow out the first few nights ,but you have to be up to the gunnels in testosterone to be still out at 3am night after night.

However there is a bigger picture at play here.- Where is it all headed? Seriously, Pattaya has zero chance of being a family destination in its present form- BUT it could easily be morphed into a shopping and entertainment area.

Sans the sleaze.

Beach road Fl's would be an easy target, most bars could be put out of business with stricter compliance. New tough fire regulation could make most guesthouses fold. It would not be that difficult.

The whole atmosphere could be changed within a matter of months.

Pattaya will remain in some form but the mongers might just get moved on. The sad sacks who bought condo's might end their days paying for lap dances.

Low season keeps getting lower. It is far too hot for me at this time of the year anyway. Thankfully the LBWVB and associated parties should bring the girls out of the woodwork.

Yes all the girls in the Windmill are up for barfine My mate is one of the managers there. ..Expensive though...not 100% sure but I think it is 1500baht dropping at 2am to 1000baht if I remember correctly and the girls want from 2000baht up for shortime.

At the moment the Windmill is closed for 2 weeks for refurbishment if you go to it one of the girls standing outside will escort you to their sister club named Annabelles in walking street. ..it was heaving in there 2 nights ago as they have put all the windmill girls in there until it reopens.

in a word - yes.

if you compare to five years ago:

pollution and flooding has not improved - worse.

the beaches and water have not improved - worse.

corruption still rampant - probably worse.

new crackdown on bars - who knows how that pans out?  TIT.

but here's the interesting question:

whether you live here or visit, in five years will you still stay in Patts?

for me, if I'm not dead already (from excessive rock-star drinking/lifestyle), I'd say it's a low probability.

change of venue/country may be in order.

Where will all the ladyboys go? Should the authorities be successful in their puritanical push for a family-friendly holiday resort city, I suspect that it will just revert to a more underground, online hookup model rather than a bar-focused scene.

My 1st trip was in 2010, my 16th will be this November.

I come across people all the time here in Texas that say they went "back in the old days" and won't go again because so much has changed.

Well, I missed "the old days" but it is still 100 times better than here at home and much better than the other places (Barcelona, Rio de Janiero) I go each year for family and friends.

I believe the Gov't just does not want it "in the face" of the non P4P tourist.

May not be what it once was but will still be much better than the alternatives to me.
