I heard a nasty rumour that Cafe Volare has been bulldozed... Anyone know if it's for renovation or completely gone, was my favorite Italian eatery.

Hasn't been bulldozed.

I haven't confirmed with the owner but it appears that they are going to enclose the entire seating area.

They bought the single unit next door and have knocked it into one with complete renovation.

Swung by this evening and took these shots. Not quite bulldozed but close.

Renovations are coming along. Looks like there's going to be a giant pizza oven.

It's looking great, went in there the other day. Only downside was some of the prices were a bit ridiculous.

Yeah wasn't exactly cheap to begin with. A couple of times I went there pre-makeover, if the change was under 50B or so they would just pocket it without question.

Alot of the prices haven't changed but 110 or 120 baht (can't remember exactly) for a diet coke is a bit steep. We only charge 25 baht from the minibar in the guest house. We even queried it and said are you sure this is right and we were told yes.

I'm always saying it's cheaper to get pissed! Quite a few restaurants I've looked at, an orange juice costs more than a beer.

110-120 bht for a coke, that's roughly over $4 AU  and it's $1 too  $ 2.50 here depending where you buy it

If your only news source was this forum then you'd believe everyone stays in 1000b night guesthouses. Pays girls 1500b long time and eat 99b English breakfasts all the time. I woke up to 3 facebook posts from girls staying in jw Marriott Bkk, the Hilton and the Hard Rock hotel in Pattaya. Simple fact is plenty people willing to spend money and often showering girls with serious amounts of cash and gifts. 2000b dinners are not uncommon in my experience. 3000b long times etc in Pattaya.

I was on coffee which was the same price as the coke light, not sure about the beer prices.
