Both the new iPhone look awesome, especially the x, but the iPhone 8 has gotten some hefty upgrades as well.
Who will be buying it?
I'm undecided as my iPhone 7 plus 256 gb is not even a year old, and in mint condition.
Looks like the new iPhones will be like hens teeth until January February time in the uk.

Did the same when the S7 came out, in my mind a better, more versatile and flexible phone than the Apple equivalent. The X is really for the ostentatious (and deep-pocketed) user.

Purchased the iPhone 6 a few years ago and I have since vowed that this will be my last ever iPhone. Built quality is significantly worse than before and the batteries are degrading quicker. Would buy a Samsung Note 8 if it wasn't about £800 in the UK. Don't think I would pay more than £300 for a phone these days, all I really need it to do is message, call, web browse and Spotify, not exactly a lot.

Apple is not what it was.

Forget it.

Not saying it's bad device, it's a good piece of kit, it's just now gone beyond ridiculous - compared to what else is available, the gap has closed.

Unfortunately the rise of China, and its status symbols, greed, ignorance, and relentless need to be special, means Apple will continue churning out tosh at high prices.

I believe the last decent move they had was iPhone SE

Right now they are just producing kit similar to everyone else.

The launch event was nothing special rolled out by the same old senior management boogers, FFS Apple get a grip; you're core was always a young one with bright design ideas and people. Even Johnny Ives won't show his face these days.

The pricing strategy is outrageous trying to keep their stock up. Trade ins and lower tariffs mays see them shift a lot in certain markets but a high percentage of users have to buy their own devices and this may be lower than before.

I've not seen anything to make me shift from my 7+...but the Apple in me says I want the X.

Will need to see it hands on, but 99% sure will upgrade.  Not sure on the iPhone X since it appears to be in just one size. The screen does appear as large as the screen on the 7 plus, which is good. My tired eyes need the larger size.  Surprised Apple didnt go bigger than the 256gb storage with the new models too.  Better cameras and faster processing always appeal.

The facial recognition feature for unlocking the phone is terrible IMO.  I'd turn that off, and use a regular type-in passcode to secure the phone.

Don't know much about the latest phone tech but the market reacted underwhelmed. And from what i've seen it's less advanced as samsung's latest offering.

That was one X I never wanted...commented once that I'd bumped into her and "no no no, she's up the village"...she sussed it was me and I got a severe case of stinkeye.

The phone (X) looks superb; it's larger screen and smaller size appeals to my pocket (though not the price) and it's new features, in particular the camera, are enticing. All my other stuff is Apple so I'm hooked.

The slogan used to be 'This is what a phone should look like"...what, a Samsung?

I'm considering cutting my holiday in LOS down to two weeks from three and then I can justify buying it, as the money would have only been blown on booze and hookers.

Then at least I'll have something to show for it. Best of both worlds

It's disappointing is what it is!

The 8 is a 7+

The X is lacking in an anniversary flagship model!

That said I'm in the apple upgrade program 👍

If I was to upgrade, think I'd opt for the 8, rather than the x, would miss the home button too much

The 8 looks very similar to the 7, 6, 5, 4 ........ Apple don't seem to have any design flair these days, certainly compared to the opposition. They rely on the fanboys paying their ridiculous prices for small upgrades. I moved over to Huawei and think they are far better phones than Apple and Samsung for far less money.

The difference in size between the 5, up to the 6 and 6+ is substantial.  As far as looks have always been happy with the build and functionality of iPhones.  And i'm not a Mac guy at all.

Can't see past the Sony Xperia ZX Premium I have recently purchased. Just a quality piece of kit, with Hi-Res audio and 4k visual hardware. its  the best there is bar none. Brilliant camera lenses. Apples are for idiots who don't know what they are looking for in a phone.
