looking at emirates for my next trip, does anyone know if (1hour 20 mins) is enough time for a connecting flight in dubai, flying in from bkk, then onwards to dublin, seems a little tight time wise, any input would be appreciated, as i have never been in dubai airport.

If they let you book the ticket, then Emirates must think it is ok.

More often than not I have to catch the underground train from one terminal to another to get my connection. Only a couple on mins on the train, but seems like a lot of walking generally.

It's tight if you have to switch terminals. There are queues for the security check, the train and two sets of lifts/escalators.

I was on a late incoming flight from Bangkok once. We were met at the plane door and escorted to the next one which they held for us. It was no quicker. They probably didn't want us disappearing into the shops or rescheduling. We were about 20 minutes late by the time we boarded. If you are only a little late arriving they may do the same.

I’ve had a tight connection time that was shortened by getting into Dubai late and as you got off the plan they split people with short connection times into one bus and everyone else into another but this will only happen if you end up at a remote stand and have to be bused to the terminal. Still has enough time for a smoke and a trip to duty free making the gate with a few minutes to spare.

I NOW GO FOR THE FLIGHT WITH 3HRS+  layover

the 1.30 is so tight you are running to get the BKK flight and as said if lots of people in security you knackered and you cannot afford anything over 30 mins delay

it is always tight on the BKK- dubai- brimingham flight and nearly always you have to change terminials it is long walk lots of lifts or escalators, then the train then more lifts or escalators

if you not young and fit like Kendo and are old and fat like me it is very hard work

I feel 2.30 to 3.30 is just right, but have a silver card and can use the business lounge

I was thinking of using Qatar from Cardiff but they now £700 plus, Emirates in October is £440 from Birmingham

Wow, that that is turn up.considering Akbar (CEO of Qatar Airways ) is saying the numbers are disappointing flying out of Cardiff at the moment.

My buddy got his flight for £383 from Cardiff,  flying out in November

I had the 1hr 20mins connection - but incoming flight from Manchester was delayed past connecting time - Bangkok flight was closed but they held plane - luckily in same terminal - actually spent 5mins in terminal -  so very tight - coming back is two and half hours so more comfortable with thst.

It's very tight and not something I'd like to do as you can't rely on your first plane landing on time. By the way that train isnt going to other terminals it's going to the other gates (a, b, c, d) because the building is that huge.

Duke that was for August and gather numbers are bad but it 430 out and 280 back

someone told me that they have a year and if they cannot make it well it will finish, I do see where the footfall is fom Cardiff, Bristol is only 60 odd miles down the road

I've done that same flight connection (bkk to dubai to Dublin with a 1:20 between flights) many times and always made it ok. If the BKK flight is a bit late they meet everyone at the gate with tight connections who need to change terminal and bus you to the right terminal. You almost always need to change terminal for the Dublin flight if you arrive from Bkk on an A380 as the Dublin flights use 777s.

Last week commuting from a European arrival (A) to an African destination (C) it took me an hour walk (escalators, train, lifts) to o from one gate to another.  I had a super priority at security for other reasons (was traveling with a pax on  wheel chair)

i can figure than anything longer than that is unrealistic so 1h30' connection is doable, departure gate is aware of your origin so they will mantainna degree of understanding in possibly  showing at the last minute. Unless you reach departure gate with a whole lot of duty free bags.

even if the arrival plane is at a remote stand, the bus will drop you next to security/arrival, saving the walk from the terminal stand.

iron I think it's tight but if the flights are being advertised then it's doable.  If you do/did book these flights then I would pre-book my seat for the flight into Dubai.  And book the seat as ner to the front as possible.  This way your one of the first of the plane and one of the first from the plane to go through security.  This should help you to get to your connecting flight qyucker

It's depend how busy the airport is ..

Last year at Christmas time( 24 december) I had a 3h15 stop over in Dubai, and I've missed my connecting flight to BKK....

Incredible bad circumstances...delaying from Zurich, sand storm in Dubai and  it was really a mess in Dubai airport , busy like never !!

A bit tight IMO, but if the first plane is on time u can do it.

I was the same as you last year.  Nightmare.  Now I always book the longer stopover.  A movie on the tablet makes the time fly by.
