Just some feedback re the Darwin which I stayed at Recently
Location
Located in Sukumvit Soi 4 about 200 meters up Soi 4 on the left hand side driving from Sukumvit.
Very close to the action in Nana Plaza and also good shopping, walking distance from the Skytrain. Easy to get to the airport via the tollways.
Price
I booked and paid on line using www.thaihoteldiscounts.com
it cost me 1,830 Baht for a single room.
I checked with the receptionist and to pay cash would cost 1900 Baht.
So you save 70 Baht if you book on line, but if you pay cash you do not have to give your credit card number. Hence in future I would pay cash as I do not like giving my credit card number.
Room Quality
The hotel is new, very nice, the room was nice but I thought small. Mind you I might have been spoiled by staying as the Aspen Suites in Soi 2 where you get a huge room. However it is adequate.
No complementary water etc.
Also no major news channel on the TV, no BBC or CNN or aljazera.
Food
Not sure I did not eat there but seems adequate.
Staff
All staff are friendly
LB friendly
No problem getting guests into your room, they have to give their ID card and you get a call when they leave to make sure you are OK.
Deposit
You pay a deposit of 500 Baht and get this back no problem.
So it was OK but not my ideal as the room size was on the small size.
Hope this has been usefull to you.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.
Given the choice, would it be Aspen or Dawin?
Is Aspen much further to walk up Soi 2 after cutting through the Rajah carpark?
Cheers.

For my New Year's trip I also have to pick between Dawin, Majestic Suites or Aspen. At the end I picked Aspen, Dawin & Majestic are in the center of action but Aspen is still near Guess Bar where I'll spend most of my nights now I stopped seeing my ex LB from Obsession and on the other side it’s not so close to Nana.
In Aspen you can still have some different interests other than mongering - to be honest I’m traveling with friend and don’t want him to know I monger every night. Aspen location can easily be sold as an average Bangkok hotel for tourists who don’t monger.

I was going to book a room at the Dawin for my upcoming trip but they wanted my credit card details sent via email which i won't do. I emailed them to tell them i was not prepared to send this info in an email and they suggested I phone the details through (Still not happy).
Anyway I'll stick with the Dynasty Inn grande as they never ask me for this info and it's a great hotel, never had any problems.

Keep in mind the Dynasty Inn Pattaya does not offer internet in the rooms. Its int eh lobby and they claim some of the second floor rooms can receive the lobby signal, but its not guarantee. If internet is important to you - then Dynasty Inn Pattaya is not a good choice.

I stayed there in May and can confirm what Goblin said, nice spot, the food is good, freindly atmosphere and a short walk to Guess/Nana/Skytrain.
I would stay there again
