… let alone any other farang restaurant excluding Italian (near Soi Diana is one small Italian restaurant with great oven baked pizzas).
BR

Could I get a refinement in the location of this restaurant? I'm willing to try a pizza in Pattaya as well as other types of food. I'm there to experience what we don't have in the small town I live in. If I don't like it it is still usually worth a few bucks just for the story.

40 Baht a dish, that's what, ONE EURO? This sounds incredibly cheap ... something's not right when you can get a full meal for 40 Baht and a drink costs up to 200 (even though it's a lady drink).

How much does the average Thai make a month?

I think the minimum wage in Thailand is 180 baht per day Ron!-So thats a minimum of approx 5000 baht per month. My ex LB gf was a physiotherapist,on 15,000 per month! You can get a good pad thai for 30 baht .You're right about the lady drinks, avoid buying them at all costs!

Sounds like the lady really earns a lot when you take her LT for, say, 2000 baht. Thanks for the reply, Travis!

About the lady drinks though, I thought it's considered impolite if you don't buy any? I just don't know how to react when the lady of my choice (whom I have already bought a couple of drinks) asks me to buy one for her friends, too ... My budget is not too tight, but I don't want to spend half of it on ladydrinks I am coerced to buy.

Hi Ron,well we're a little off topic here,namlich deutsche essen!BTW-I usually pay 1500 LT.
The issue of ladydrinks,I have been caught with that one before-never again.I just say" NO-I dont want your friend".It works every time,NO.
There is a compromise however,I have been asked to buy drinks by ladies I am not interested in,so sometimes I say"I will buy you a beer or a coke, but not a ladydrink,ok?" They always take my option. Then you just pay for a beer or a coke,at normal prices, and everybody is happy.

Gossip Cafe is a German restaurant in the Soi Day Night area.

Food is OK, but the interesting thing about the joint is that all the Soviet hookers stay at
the adjacent hotel and eat there so u get an nteresting view. :Contact Lense:

Around 4PM is agood time to watch the show and they are still serving brekkie.

Yes, Travis, you're right - sorry for the offtopic, everyone :)

Being a German, I happen to like German food (which only very rarely includes sausages and sauerkraut, by the way). But it certainly doesn't suit the tropical climate of Thailand. I guess if you don't like curries, Japanese stuff is always an option.

However, will be interesting to find out what German food tastes like in Thailand. Might actually try a Sauerbraten there :)

in naklua you can eat at the NACHRICHTENTREFF, not far from the runabout and on the opposite to the first big barcomplex after the runabout ...
on the opposite of the second big barcomplex in naklua (just 1 minute walk after the first) there is an other restaurant with german food, the TAVERNE, none of the best but good
the barcomplex has a ladyboy bar ... the family bar ...
further up is ANTON, i like the food there very much :)
not far from ANTON you find the KLEIN HEIDELBERG so far i did not eat there, but only did hear good about it
if you like pizza you should have one at PIZZA BIG on of the best in pattaya!
if you feel the need for a short snack and you are in this area i can recommend the bratwurst at this blue cart on the left to the firebar

yes, i spend a lot time in naklua :Trouser Cough:

on the beachroad i know this one ... i forgot the name and not really can read the sign (left of pizza hut)... a very crowded place, very good food :) and they have a brewery ... mixed food styles

Anton and Klein Heidelberg are really famous in Naklua. I think every German knows about Anton and the 220 Baht evening buffet. It appears like a small German embassy in Funtown. :D

If you don't want to make your way to Naklua try The Berliner Bistro. It's next to the Sportsman Pub and looks a bit scary from outside, but IMO it's actually one of the best locations for good, cheap and genuine German food. ^_^

These recent recommendations for restaurants in Naklua and for the Berliner Bistro are most appreciated. I like an occasional alternative to Thai food, and German food is one of those alternatives, for those days when I have a big appetite. :Crisps:

Hopf Brewhouse on Beach Road has good food and there seemed to be lots of Germanic food (Well, sausages, I'm not exactly an expert!). The beers are good and the band are surprisingly good later on in the night, especially when the manager sings. Wasn't expecting a mix between Queen & Pavarotti ^_^
Exit Royal Garden on Beach Road and turn right - its about 100m along.

On the top of Royal Garden they have opened a Paulaner Brauhaus - right beside Starbucks. The one in Singapore had good food & I think it is the same chain.

Domicil is about as good as any I've found in Thailand. Excellent value, too. Brauhaus next door is also good.

My favourite German restaurant is Klein Heidelberg in Naklua because of the large portions, the fresh bread, the excellent value & especially the delicious sauerkraut & the wonderful potato salad. It's the only place in Pattaya that I trust for fresh potato salad (and it always tastes as if it were freshly made.) I visit there at least once a week & always get a friendly goodbye from the owner (I think).
