Well I was looking into doing a Visa run to PNH in April, but saw the little RED Banner Notice at the bottom of the page.

In short stating March 5, 2010... they'll start collecting $35 USD for visa's.

That kind of sucks.... but hopefully they'll extend it again.

This sucks!!!! just another way they have found to get money out of us

Do you know if we must have US Dollers or can we pay in Baht??? Is this only on Visa runs to Cambodia or do we have to pay this when entering Bangkok as well??

The visa free offer has been extended till 2011 but there was a period of about two and a half weeks when people had to pay. It was not a straight extension for another year. typical thai bureaucracy unfortunately.

You will find, certainly the case in UK that the "Free" visa is not actually free, As there is a hefty "Aministration fee" to pay!

Also if you apply by post the post Charge is big as well.

It is easier just to get the 30 day visa at the Airport, and do a visa run as and when you need to extend

I'm planning aprox. 3 month stay on my upcoming trip, so I'll get my 30 days on arrival from the airport, and do a visa run to Cambodia as I got a free seat on Air Asia to get my 60 day visa.

Now if only the protests settle down, or at least don't escalate!

Last thing we need is another airport closure!

Am I understanding this correctly, a visa can be obtained from the airport upon arrival? one of the many things I was needing to figure out, just picked up the passport application today. after reading some of these post and the obsession I have had for many years I have to take the plunge and make the trip. sounds like a wonderful place and this site is so friendly and helpful

if you come for 30 days you are exempt from visa - the 60 day tourist visa normally costs around 1200 b from memory and can be extended for 30 days for 1900b in thailand
One disadvantage of the tourist visa is that it takes a full page of your passport - can be a problem if you move around a lot

I have not ever needed a passport, therefore I dont think missing a page will kill me. The fact that I have been obsessed with ladyboys for a number of years, and all the information I have gotten from this forum I have to come there and enjoy what everyone else has been for years. the selection here in the states is horrible, in fact I can only think of one decent girl that lives in Canada and visits here on occassion.

From all I have read it looks like January would be a great time to get there, so providing any snags I am planning on coming around the 15th, with any luck maybe I will run into a BM to give me some tips or show me around. I am positive I will forget half of what I have read in all the excitement.
