Sunshine Hotel and residence---new extension starts in six weeks, so expect noise and dust.
As there is plenty of new buildings going up it would be wise to ask any Hotel that you are booking into if they have any building work going on in either the hotel or surrounding area.
It's not worth making a mistake and ruining you holiday.

If you mean the annexe to Areca lodge, then yes i believe it is finished.
SLBT stayed in the annexe in February, send him a PM and i am sure he will give you a heads up, but i do know that he said it was a little far from the action.

Thanks for the heads up! I was going considering staying at the SunShine again for my upcoming trip in June, but decided on the Seri Place. It looked decent online, abit far from the action.. but w/ a scooter rental should be ok.
Nothing worse then waking up to construction noise after a night out on the town!

I booked for my Jun-Jul trip at Sunshine Residences..I thinks the noise and dust is only going to be a problem at the old Hotel building in the rooms over looking to the pool...

I will give you an update in a couple of weeks.

Beware the work has started on the Sunshine Hotel, all of the older rooms that were part of the hotel have been demolished.
Also both swimming pools have been broken up as part of the re-construction.
The jack hemmers commence at about 9am and continue throughout the day up to the evening. The building works are due to be completed in 18 months time however the worst of the building work i.e the structural footings have yet to commence.
I have no doubt that the upgraded hotel will be just great when finnished (8 story with pool on the roof)but it is some time off.
When I stayed there recently they provided a voucher for use at their sister residence which is called "Sunshine Vista" on Soi 3 a very nice relaxed location costing the same money if you book on Agodo, highly reccomended.

i've been staying at the Sunshine on my last dozen or so visits and always found it ok, but i'll be moving out of soi 8 until after it is re-built. I'll maybe try the Vista next time. Whatever hotel you guys book, try to avoid the Eastiny group. I stayed at the Plaza once and although the hotel was ok, my companion for the night was refused entry. (so was i). Good luck to one and all.

I stayed here back in 2007, but didn't monger much and had BKK ladyboy with me.
Looks like a pretty good location. Kind of narrowed it down to this, April Suites and Canterbury Tales. Surprised there isn't more threads on Sunshine or more posts on this one.
Oops nevermind I found a better thread back a little further. http://www.ladyboysp...esidence-soi-8/
Any recent experiences or warnings would be nice. Thanks.

I'll try not to cum in their hair.
So could you pretty much walk to all the action or do you need to use that baht bus?

My one complaint was that the wireless connection sucked. It was too slow for Skype conversations, and the signal dropped often. This remained true even when I used my laptop in the lobby, just a few feet away from the access point.
