Stayed last year at Opey De Place Pattaya, thought it was a great value hotel at only 750 Bhat per night, guest friendly and in a decent locaton on Soi Lengkee.
Nice clean rooms very frndly staff and a cracking little pool. only dissapointment is there is no safe box in your room.
If they could add a safe box then the deal would be a lot better.

Stayed there many times over the years but the rooms are starting to look a bit shabby, a lick of paint and some new furniture wouldnt go amiss.
The staff are nice though and the pool and little resturant are very good but for the rents they charge it is worth it, great little burger van outside to.

Regards, Solice

I checked out that burger van many a time when I was staying at the hotel. Have you stayed in the suite or deluxe rooms Solice??
I wondered if it was worth it upgrading as I am only going to go for the poolside room in Sept/Oct

Cheers

Stevie good pics, if you want an easy to use tool for resizing your pics I can recommend Irfanview, it's a free down load and makes it so much easier.

I havent stayed in the suite or delux rooms but one of my mates did, he said it wasnt worth the price increase, the decor was just the same and the only difference was that you got a small living room.
Last time i was there i booked a normal room but when checking in they said there was a problem with the aircon and I would have to be put in a poolside room in the meantime. They had the cheek to try and charge me the extra rate, told them to fuck off because it was their problem and not mine. I knew the owner and took it up with her and they relented but I thought typical Thais trying it on.
I normally stay in the Erica now, its more expensive but a great hotel in my view.

Cheers, Solice

555 yes mate sorry half asleep, I do mean the Areca.
If you do book dont go through the Areca direct, go through a company called Agoda, they have room rates for the hotels that are cheaper than the hotel can do. I think they do this by buying rooms early in the season at low prices and then selling them throughout the year, I saved 200 baht a night by booking with Agoda, they also have deals with many other hotels not just the Areca.

I wouldn't go there for at least another 6 months or so mate; I've just come back from Pattaya & I had to leave Opey Dee after one night because there's a govenment hospital being built RIGHT BEHIND THE SWIMMING POOL!!!!!... And I got a load of 'gob' off of the 'lady' at the reception because she thought that I'd be staying for a week (even under these circumstances). It's a shame, it really does stack up as bloody good value... And yeah, the guest policy's really cool, you could bring back a three legged soi dog if you wanted to.

I think Areca Lodge is looking very good for September, probably book the standard room and try my luck getting an upgrade to the block on arrival.
If anybody has any better suggestions they will be welcome.

100% ladyboy friendly mate.

The rates have gone up a bit since I last posted around 100 per night.

new nikom court is newer and has very nice rooms for same price - just two doors up the street.
Staff very good there as well - they take id but no fuss about ladyboy. have security boxes at reception.
