I am not surprised at what happened. If money and valuables are left lying around the room occupant is just asking to be robbed. I have little sympathy for him. Was there no electronic safe there? Was his suitcase lockable?
I would be interested to know the outcome if the theft was reported but as the poster of the video did not see fit to explain if there were any consequences I guess we will be left in the dark.
One thing puzzles me. After being robbed the first time and capturing it on video why go to the bother of setting up another opportunity?

It was found on Utube, as per the title caption states. Therefore I have no other info. Posted as point of interest only.

Just reinforces the fact you should not leave any valuables around.

The first bit of advice I would give to any monger travelling to Pattaya is leave everything valuable you don't need in the room safe before you go out.
If the Hotel hasnt got any form of room safe then that's a problem straight away for me.

Dont give anyone the chance and they wont have the chance. Simples!

Opportunity makes the thief

maybe i understand the girl if she find some money on the ground and put it in her own purse, but to look in the pocket its a no go.

I don't buy into any of this, "He deserved it".

Housekeeping is a position of trust. If someone can't see something and not steal it, then they shouldn't be working in a place where temptations are plentiful.

I do agree though that we are not living in a perfect world, so I always take reasonable precautions, but to be honest, this is more for the ST/LT guests I might bring back. I would hope that I would not be guarding against hotel staff.

Well done on this guy getting enough evidence to prove to the managers that they need to do something. Just imagine how many other poor sods she has done it to. Thieving little fucker.

I had a look on eBay and this seems to be the cheapest price for a decent spec sound activated 4gb recorder (with card included)

If she saw the camera she probably would have stolen that too.

like a fly on shit when she saw the cash on the floor.

I agree entirely with what your saying bud, unfortunately as you said we arent living in the perect world and something like this could potentially ruin your holiday,in most cases people would have waited months for. Anyone travelling to Bangkok and Pattaya and not using there safe in the hotel room in just crazy in my opinion.

P.S Stick the comments on something like trip adviser and maybe the hotels would realise with the ways things are they cannot afford to have staff with eyes for peoples hard earned cash and valuables.

I think this would be the same in any hotel over the world, poorly paid staff will always maybe take a easy opportunity, just way it is...

Lock up in safe, and always keep suitcase locked too and maybe combo strap round it too, that way it don't matter and one less thing to worry about... and always take out what money you can afford to lose on a night out, although thats probably obvious.

Sometimes it's not the staff you need to be worried about. The cleaning lady left her security card in my room the other day (the card that opens every room in the hotel) so I basically had access to any room I wanted, I of course immediately found her and handed it back, but others might not do the same.

Valuables definitely should be locked up because you never know who you can and can't trust. I hope people don't see this video and assume that this is typical for Thailand. Religious people may disagree with me but everyone has the freewill to choose between right and wrong and I think the majority actually chooses right.
To contrast this video, I was staying at the Ambassador in BKK about a year and a half ago and left my clothes for the laundry. The maid was coming in as I was heading out and she chased me down to the elevator seemed very frantic. It turns out I left 5 baht in my jeans pocket and she wanted to return it to me before the clothes went to laundry.

If I remember correctly this is from a thread on PA. The guy had some stuff stolen so he left more stuff lying around and videotaped it so he would catch the thief!

This is laying the groundwork for getting a tip later. The micro version of the long con.

doesn't matter how pissed i am, when comming back to my room, i always lock away my valuables.
i even keep an extra eye on my after shave now, as had that nicked once, also on my trip comming up, i will need to keep another eye on leaving my viagra in the toilet, as i had a full packet left, so when i went to get one, the lb's even helped themselves to this.
