I was in Pattaya last year around march time so I thought I'd share my reviews of the places I stayed while I was there.

Just as a bit of background, I had just lost my job around that time due to the economy taking a downturn but I had a nice amount of savings and hadn't taken any time off in ages so was trying not to spend too much but was used a reasonable amount of luxury.

I booked a few nights at the Sandy spring hotel thinking it's a good place to start and maybe I could find somewhere cheaper after I got settled in. Paid 2500 baht a night for a suite which was huge! way more than i needed, but was great. No problem bringing girls back or anything. And was in a great location.

After a couple of days I decided I should downgrade a bit. 2500 baht a night in bangkok (where i had been too before) doesn't get you much, but it was obvious I could get somewhere cheaper and decent enough for me (considering I didn't have a job).

I'd met a ladyboy who said she knew a guesthouse that her boss owned and offered to show me the rooms there. She took me there on her moped, it was a bit farther from all the action but still walking distance (I like to walk, so maybe farther than many people like). The rooms were nice and the prices were like 500 baht or something (for the biggest room). So I said I would stay a few nights. It was called the Dolphin Hotel/Guesthouse or something like that. It was run by some Finnish guy and had Finnish spas (whatever they are) in there.

Anyway stayed there a few nights, again, no problems taking girls back. Really nice staff, had a bar and pool table.

It was a bit too far from the action so I started looking around for somewhere else to stay. While I was wandering around near soi 6 I saw the Grand Sole had a big sign up for 999 baht a night. I went in and booked a room for the rest of my stay. It looked like a pretty decent hotel for a good price. The place was very good value for money, they didn't mind me taking girls back apart from one time when they said I needed to pay 500 baht for taking someone in. I hadn't been asked for money previously so I don't know if it was just some asshole on duty that night or what.

Anyway, I'm going back to Pattaya in September so i'm looking for a new hotel to stay. Grand Sole was probably the best place I stayed last time in terms of value for money. But now that i'm working again, maybe I can afford somehwere better :) If you habe any recommendations, let me know
