I got my bill padded at Pooks Soi 6 this trip, and I wasn't the only one.

On the 27th of June I went in there for less than 2 hours, and was sitting chatting with 1 LB which I got her a couple of drinks. My bill came to 3,795 baht.

Needless to say I went ape, but paid the bill and demanded a full account of the bill from the cashier who took 20 minutes to make up, in the meantime wile waiting on the full account so I could have a word later with Pook, got rid of the LB I was chatting with, called over something I fancied and kept for the rest of my holiday, which I had 10 days left, and I started a new tab, just a couple of drinks and the bar fine. I got the full account just before we left the bar for the first bill.

The rest of the 10 days, we went around to just pay the bar for her, and I didn’t even get off the motorbike. I read the full account (which I still have in my hand) when I got back to the hotel, and for less than 2 hours this bill of 3,795 baht had the following……..

7 Whisky = 870
2 Beer = 170
1 Cigarettes = 95
1 Pool = 20
And wait for it……….
17 ladydrinks = 2,640

Total 3,795

I never left the bar, hence the cigarettes, but I don’t play pool, and the first LB I was chatting with had no more than 3 ladydrinks.

The culprit here was the girl serving behind the bar, the one with the cleft/hair lip. Things must be pretty grim for Pook to resort to that, as this is the first and only time this kind of thing has happened to me. In future I will have no more than one beer and pick who I’m shagging that night and move on to another bar. I spent more time in Pook Swan, which was no problem at all.

well this bar seems tob be a bit odd ...

for me it goes on my blacklist ... like the family bar in naklua (there happened same same to multiple people) and the hi-boss (for strange behaviour of the staff ie in the st room)
no i never have been in one of those bars and i never will go there

A couple of questions mate,

Did they use muscle to enforce payment?

what was in the baht bin? as in did they sneak in the pool and 17 ladydrink charges


It seems you took this up with the owner a month ago and she did nothing?

Well that's Pooks soi 6 off my agenda next week. Lets hope someone from there reads this and learns how much future custom they have lost.

paul i think you handled this the right way ..and good advice to all bms ..pay it ,,vote with your feet and warn others..as if you wouldnt notice 17 extra drinks jeez..did 1963robo not get stung last week too by the bint with the cleft lip..thanks for warning mate

I have the same problem last year. Thank God I had a smaller bill.

But since this moment i pay after every second drink in every bar. Sometimes they ask me, you want to go? I say no, but i want to pay. Is it a problem for you?

I have since this time never a problem with a bill. I have also only 100 and 500 baht notes with me. To dangerous for exchange mistakes.

I say thanks Pooks in Soi 6 to learn my lesson !!!

for the heads up thats crazy 17 ladydrinks! I think you would def remember asking for that! you prob got some unpaid check bins stuck in your bin so the till balances. I would def have asked to see them or the manager, but is TIT after all and prob not make to much of a scene, although I prob would have complained and if started to argue would have given them a couple of K and said enough is enough and walked out.

But they will loose so much more now thanks for your posting and word of mouth soon spreads, def off my 2 visit list for next trip.

Thats bollox that is they are taking the piss there. i too in the past would have went ape-shit as you put it....... but i learnt one thing from a longtime LB that has clued me up over the years, when she seen me blown my top once when i got stung... she say Gally next time just smile pay bin and never got back, and tell all your friend not go there too, then bad for bar as no get so many customer. best advice iv had from a LB

I hope Pook reads this forum, or knows someone who does. 17 Ladydrinks is something one remembers. The funny thing is I kind of regretted not going there on my last trip but now I'm feeling really good about that. No problems like at EZY and while I know the waitress at Stringfellows sometimes gets a bit of heat for her abruptness (is that a word ), she is honest about the tab. Thanks for the heads up, Paul. Stuff like this is always good to know.

With all due respects,how could an experienced man like you paultain,who can at least speak some thai,let them get away with that? I can understand a complete newbie getting ripped off,but not an experienced monger.
Its all right saying pay up and tell your friends not to go there...big fucking deal.Its that sort of attitude that makes em try it on in the first place

Thanks guys,

I thought about it long and hard on what to do about it, but when it was reported that it happened to a friend during the same time period, and then I kind of figured it may not have happened to only two of us, so it was best to go posting a warning.

You have to remember that Pook pays top salary of 8,000 baht a month….. But that’s only to begin with.

Being late for work, the salary is cut 100 baht

Not meeting the quota of 30 Ladydrinks per month, the salary is cut!

Not meeting the quota of 10 OFF’s, again the salary is cut!

Filling the quota of 30 Ladydrinks per month in these very low season times must be quite difficult, hence the bill padding.

If my friend is reading this, he should tell his story also, and any one else this has happened to lately.

As the cashier needed the original bills, this is why I got her reluctantly to make me up a general break down of the bill, she had to do this as she knew I was a good friend of Pook for years, but luckily for them I didn’t see Pook for the rest of the trip. But Pook will hear about it soon enough. Here is the actual bill;

30 ladydrinks a month is only one a day- even I would manage to scrounge a drink a day off a customer if I put a dress on.

10 barfines a month?Pla ,Mo or Baloon to name but 3 would do that in a week,every week.

Its a shame what they do at moment in Pattaya. Its not only Pooks, the same things are in many bars. I read on many Boards and in the german ones you read the same about wrong bills, Ladydrinks you never spend, and and and ....

I tell you again. The best way to have everything under control: Pay after every second drink. If something on the bill you can ask which girl have a drink from you, who play pool, who smoke cigs? After this short time they never start this shit.

But the most respect for you. I think i have no selfcontrol after this bill.

But that night I didn't fancy spending a few hours arguing over it at a coppers desk in the police station, I wanted to carry on enjoying myself the rest of the night else where, with the good company I picked up after that.

It did take a bit of shouting in my little bit of Thai just to get the bill to take with me, that they didn't want to do in the first place (and was unusual for them, that I made the request, and seemed very worried about it). And as I have just explained about the 30 Ladydrink quota, your not going to get the old school LB that was with me, weigh in and say "hang on a minute-I was at his side all the time...he never bought 17 ladydrinks " as its making sure her salary is not cut.

Now if I came across Pook during that trip, I know for sure I would have got it ALL back, and I still will the next time I see her, and then say no more about it, and just let others get ripped off, instead of posting this post without any embarrassment. But when I heard a friend got ripped off the same way, who is also well experienced, and also did the right thing by paying it, and simply chalked it down to experience.

Yes Travis, I may be well experienced, and for me, its the first time this kind of thing has happened. But an experienced guy always does the right thing.

I have no embarrassment in posting this, as it is for the benefit for others........ Iv'e already learned the lesson, which experienced or not, you never stop learning.

I am not making excuses for them, I am explaining why they are doing it.

And naming 3 top dogs out of 25 doesn't meet your argument, the other 22 LB's where lucky to get 1 short time in 5 days. I know that for a fact.

When I was there, there was an average of 8 punters a day walking into pook's, How do you recon 25 LB's are going to get their daily quota?

FFS Travis this is a warning to others about bill padding in Pook 6, it actually happened so just leave it at that. You going on and on, about "I would do this, and I would do that" doesn't alter the fact of the warning to others.

PS; If you were sitting in Pooks with a dress on, you would be the last person I would buy a ladydrink for you

... Paul you know you have my respect, but i have to agree with TB in this one ... I would never put up with this, no way ... Everybody in the place that night would know about it, not to mention the world next thing ... If you let them get away with it, they will do it again ... I would ask them to correct things first and if they didn't, then i would go for their names for name and shame ... Manager comes next, even the BIB to check for id's and licenses, health books, whatever ... I know i might still have to pay, but i would have the satisfaction that i tried my best (and they would have to think twice about doing it again in the future) ... I understand that you took a decision you might thought as the best at the time, i do not blame you for anything as i am not aware of the circumstances ... Now, do me a favor next time (and i say that to everybody who posted in this thread or will post, who believes that no action is required) ... Isn't it better to try and change some faces than ignore and forget ? ... I see a lot of people like this place, why don't we try to keep it up and running ? ... And stop thinking about quotas for a moment and just think of the orphans (that i know you care more and i am sure they could use that money a lot better) ...

I got tabbed up at Morning night Bar Bangkok last trip, lots of lady drinks added, been going to that bar for some years, and never happened before. Im not critising poster because its happened to me, and im sure most people but in the Land of scams I got complaicent in a venue I felt comfortable in. Now I remember to do what I always used to do before I thought I knew what I was doing, if you know what I mean and look at every ticket that goes in my bin and pay up regularly. (Ps Morning Night normally run sound but on this occasion a few bar girls got drinks on my tab I had not offered to them, individuals rather than a cashier/owner problem.) But was a reminder to me that Im a Punter not a friend, and as soon as one starts to believe that they're an "expert' in LOS is when they can be as vulnrable as a newbee.

Good post Pautain I've got my tickets already and will arrive in aalos on the 14th. of Sept hopefully for a month. I'll probally spend a couple
of doys in Bangkok looking around and stuff like that. The info from your post has been enlighting to say the least. I plan on doing what secrets does,
that is payyhe bin after every couple of drinks and if they don't like it I can always leave.
