What's a "good price" heading toward TH's low season guys? And do they have an on-site swimming pool?

Is the fitness centre in Areca well equiped? Does it have a rowing machine, is it aircon?. The LK Metro looks to have a good gym, but I read some reports it needs a reno.

Does anyone know if the bathroom has a bum gun? That may be a deal breaker for me.

The hotel is great, right price, location perfect, rooms are comfortable (as any the aircon is noisy and gives a dangerous stream of air if you are sensible to it), buffet breakfast offering good variety of food.
Quiet even if in the middle of the scene, relaxing swimming pool(s) but...
.... internet sucks. No matter what, your room has only 30% connectivity to the net. The wifi isn't unstable and unreliable,
Complained to reception a few times with no success
A major faiiire nowadays.
And they should leave one socket to charge batteries off the main key switch so you can charge a device even if you are not in the room.
Nothing works when key card is not in the slot.

Last time I stayed at the Areca Lodge (March 2009), if you brought a guest back to the hotel, the minimum age was 20, and the charge for a second guest was B500. I never had any trouble and found the hotel to be a comfortable place to stay. I am surprised the OP had that many problems.

there is a sign at reception about this.

Most hotels charge for a 3rd guest, and i thought it was illegal for a farang to go with a Thai lady under 20.
