I am new to the forum and looking forward to grabbing a few days in Bangkok. Do any of you guys know any good 5 star hotels that are LB friendly?
Thanks!

Never had problems at Westin or Le Meridien (near Patpong)
Novotel and Amari are a BAD choice

Finally i can show up with some information at this brilliant Forum - even when its a bit "off-topic".
here we go:
in the past 12 months I've bn in 5 different 5-Star locations in BKK. These are:
- Oriental Mandarin
- Four Seasons
- Millenium Hilton
- Marriott (the Resort at Chao Praya)
- Siam Kempinski Siam Paragon
I stayed there allways between 3-5 days, allways with LB. I did a online booking directly on the Hotels website.
Long Story short:
I never had any difficulties with my accompany escorting me to my room. The Hotels charged me only the second breakfast.
If you ask me for any final recommondation i may get you two choices:
The Oriental.
cauz its a legend, a romantic place with faboulous rooms and a nice pool. Closed to Breeze and the State Tower. Easy to reach by Skytrain (with a boot transfer directly to the hotel).
They had a few difficluties after the old manager retiered, but now the food is excellent again.
A candelightdinner at the river is a must-have for everyone ! Choose this if you wanna stay in a nice place and if wanna enjoy mainly this stay (with your LB).
(taxi from Nana is about 100 baht)
OR
The Siam Kempinski at the Siam Paragon Center.
Choose this if you are (like me) a Big City Guy. Its brand new (grand opening was as far as i remember 26th of September),
georgeous and very comforatble with his skytrain conection. (Leaving my room 'til i got into the train took me allways about 8 minutes)
Even when this hotel is directly located in the innercity, the pool area (saltwater!) is perfectly quiet. Relaxing at its best.
You may access the Siam Paragon Center directly from the Hotel and enjoy all the benefits this shoping area has to offer.
Choose this one if you wanna be maximum flexible, fast and everywhere whitin minutes.
About the other three hotels from my list:
- Four Season: the weakest one. Cauz it had a good location before, but the Siam Kempinksi Location is better.
- Marriott Resort : Nice. Like a small island inside the city. But way too many tourist groups.
- Hilton: has bn a stunner in the year 2000. And now you may see exactly that there have 10 years past by. The pool at the 4th floor is nice. Also the panorama view (daytime/nighttime) is probably the best in BKK (Yeah, even better than Breeze ). But thats it. Good location if you are collecting Hilton Miles.
About the Marriott at Nana: Never spent a night there, but checked it out. The point for me is, that there is only the Nana as a POI around. Everything else takes too long for me, and the location is not one of the best.
Hope this may help you a bit.

Peninsula
Shangri-La
Oriental
Never never a problem. But I always book for 2 ! The Hotels are crowded, a lot of people in restaurant and bars.... But even with a new companion (and registration of passport) i never had a problem.
Important: the companion has to be dressed in style. Bitch-Look is a no go.

I'm currently at the Adelphi Suites which is a couple blocks from Nana, also very nice and no problem bringing LB to room, although I think I still prefer the MG for a tiny bit more feeling of luxury.

From my experience, none of the 5 star hotels will make any fuss about girls or ladyboys, as long as you stay discreet and they are dressed in a way that doesn't shout "hooker" all over the lobby, jeans and T-shirt is ok. High heels and mini skirt are not.
There are a lot of top of the class 5 star hotels in Bangkok, it is amazing.
The Oriental
Lebua
Mandarin Oriental
Intercontinental
Peninsula
Sukhothai
Siam Kempinski
Dusit Thani
Shangri-La
Banyan Tree
and many many more
check Agoda for good deals on those, usually they got very good prices.
www.agoda.com
(or even better, use the link in my sig)
