Russian Tourist Stabbed and Robbed By Construction Workers

PATTAYA: -- A Russian tourist was seriously stabbed and robbed when he joined a group of Thai construction workers for a drink when he lost his way back to his hotel late at night in Pattaya.

Pattaya, 3rd January 2011 [PDN]: At approximately 04.00 a.m, Pattaya police investigator Lieutenant General Bricha Samti was notified of a foreign man who had been stabbed with a knife and robbed in a dark soi near the Pattaya Paladium on Second Road.

On my second visit to Pattaya which was in late November I arrived late and hit the bars hard. It was probabaly the dumbest thing that I have ever done. Granted the drinks are small and kind of watered but I had in excess of 15 Jack and Cokes. I got lost walking back to my hotel and I was drunker than crap and nervous. Two LB's on scooters drove by and offered sex which for me met a ride to my hotel. We all went to the hotel, showered and I found out was was a postie. The sex didnt happen as I was to drunk. I paid them eacj 1000 bhat and the night was done. Why they didint rob me I will never know. I know I was damn lucky and I guess the old saying is true. Godlooks out for little children and fools. I was the lucky fool who could of been robbed or stabbed like this guy. There use to be a televison show in the 80's in the USA called Hill Street Blues, all I can say is I learned to "Be careful out there".

Your right you could have been stabbed or robbed or both. Meeting anyone on the street when you've had 15 Jack and cokes can be dangerous. There are bad people everywhere and they will take advantage given the chance. Most and I do mean MOST will NOT. Be careful anywhere you go anywhere in the world but don't over think it. I have been shit faced in Patts and LB's have taken care of me on many occasions. The last I remember was when I payed a Taxi what i though was 50 baht but it was 500. I was about to leave but my LB, who i had just met, knew that it was 500. She confronted the taxi driver and told it him it was 500 and then demanded a refund after the money was already in his pocket. He looked real pissed and betrayed by a fellow Thai but handed over the money to my girl and she shoved the 450 change in my pocket.. Some might say that she was worried that it was money she might not get later... I was there and I know better... she had a good heart and she took care... she knew I had plenty of money but she didn't want to see me cheated. I would have never have know the difference and she was very aware of that. It was just the gesture that was so important to me.

My advice

1) dont go with Thai guys for a friendly drink on a dark street

2) don't drink anything offered to you by anyone from beach road (even if its water, back in the loom)
