I need a recommendation for a Suvarnabhumi Airport hotel, just for one night. No ladyboy involved. Just a friend with a very early flight out.

For one night, I usually stay at the Queens Garden hotel costing around 1000baht per night on their website. If you book through Agoda, it costs 768 including two way transfers which is worth since they charge 150 baht per person per trip which addds up to another 600 baht for two people i.e. 1600 baht booking direct vs 768 baht through Agoda......
Clean, comfortable, quiet, interesting area backing onto a large temple complex and you can get food in the local restaurants which cater for locals, not foreigners and therefore are cheap. They are used to one nighters and early morning departures (e.g. they will give you a wake up call), but the restaurant in the hotel doesn't open for very early departures and so you won't get breakfast (which is not included in the price).
Transfers take 10 minutes and are remarkably efficient (provided the person meeting you hasn't hidden the sign on the railings behind the pillar supporting the building as they did for us!). On the way back, the bus leaves every hour on the hour.
If this doesn't float your boar, try googling hotels bangkok airport. There are some quite cheap places, but I have no idea of the quality.

excellent info there rick - was thinking about this also for the difficult flights -
will try queens garden for sure next time.
I never sleep well the night before a flight as i have a morbid fear of missing the flight so this is a much better idea
+1 from me for a top post with good detail
found their web site here: - it is indeed very close to the airport !

Sorry - I forgot that Agoda has headline prices and then they add on the taxes and such like, so it is probably nearer to 900 baht than the 768 that I quoted.
Still cheaper than going direct though.
