Continuing their current policy of mass checks for drugs, underage sex workers and other illegal activities, police troops closed the go-go gay and transvestite street off Beach Rd. Pattaya, finding many male and females intoxicated or possessing drugs.
3rd February 2011[PDN] At 21.00 Police General Nantawut Suwnalaorng, Police Station Pattaya, led a troop of over 100 men associated with Office of the Narcotics Control Board to close 13/4 Soi Pattaya, Moo 9 Nongphrue, Banglamung, Chonburi. Following the plan of crime and drug clearance, the officers investigated for any illegalities or drug abuse of the workers in the entertainment venue, which mostly consists of gay bars or tranvestite beer bars.
The officers blocked the soi, closing it from 2nd Rd Pattaya, to its end at Pattaya Beach Rd. The soi is an entertainment venue made up of go-go bars and beer bars for homosexuals and the third sex. The police had 50 set goals for the investigation. Checking each bar’s background and its workers urine for drug abuse, they found 20 workers proved positive for drugs. These were immediately brought to the police stations for further prosecution.
The current “no tolerance” policy concerning drug abuse in adult entertainment centres is now becoming a part of Pattaya’s night life. Further such zone raids are to be expected soon.

They have actually been making their presence know for years. I am good friends with Dudley and Sai, the owners. I hear about how they get raided all the time.-Swedeman

The government are insistant on trying to promote a good ''family'' image of pattaya from its hey-day as a sex tourist mecca...
In my view, you'll never change what is fairly obvious as a fantastic money maker... Just be seen to do something from time to time and let things go back to normal...

The real big "guys", they sit safe in places where the police not search ... or not want to .....
But at the end .... this is the typical Thailand. Dont loose the face and show what you not have.

You are joking right? Heroin? Get real! You can bring any medicine that has been prescribed to you by a doctor in your home country.
Obviously if it has been prescribed to you and it has your name on the outer label you should be just fine in case you get stopped by customs.
In all my years of flying to LOS myself I have never been stopped by customs at Suvarnabhumi Airport upon arrival.
FYI, if you get caught with heroin you will get life in prison at the "Bangkok Hilton". Not a fun way to spend the rest of your life. -Swedeman

Again that is a joke
I was more concerned about drugs that are legal to order over the Internet like female hormones for transsexuals, legal to buy over the Internet but what if you take them to Thailand with no prescription? Rohypnol I hear is legal in Thailand but god help you if you get caught with it in the UK. I think it would be useful if we had a list of do's and don'ts on drugs.

Again, all illegal drugs are just that "ILLEGAL". If they have been prescribed to you by a doctor than you should be just fine. We don't need a do's and don't list of drugs on this board, sorry!.-Swedeman

I agree with Tony2103 wholeheartedly. A real discussion of the laws in Thailand regarding any topic should be legitimate. I do not think that she is out of line in requesting objective information and I did not see anything in the thread regarding acceptance or promotion of yabba, heroin or roofies.
This is the same discussion that those of you thinking of bringing your LBGF home need to consider as well. Where does she get her HRT? How much is she allowed to bring? What constitutes a controlled and uncontrolled substance. What are the requirements for getting a prescription? These are all topics of law, not illegal recreation.
She is further correct in that the laws vary from one place to another. I can buy all the drugs here that I want just by walking up to the counter, I cannot, however, take it across a border. Incidently, I do not buy recreational drugs at the pharmacy, OK well occasionally some Tadafil.
