Yep I agree its not ideal, but we are stuck with the software that Invision produce (which are the market leaders of forum software BTW)
When Im trying to locate something more specific, what I do is that I first log onto the forum, then open a new internet page on my browser and then use google to Search (in the example you give)...
"Ladyboyspattaya.com Pattaya Bay Resort Hotel review"
and you get a more specific search results. Because you are already logged on, when you click on the link, you will be taken straight to the report.

I'm not sure why the site admin just doesn't embed a Google or Bing search widget ... both companies make it easy, and the site would get the same search that you get with either of those engines restricted to the ladyboyspattaya.com domain
