      Agreed. But since the mid 1980's the former conservative right has made a sharp turn to the left. Todays CDU can be considered as a left populist party, almost the same as the socialist party SPD.

      Germany and other countries like Sweden and also France would need somebody like a Donald Trump, a Viktor Orban or a Geert Wilders.

      Angie has managed to dismental all possible options and has moved the CDU to the mid.left.. The SPD is barely recognizable, and has lost its identety.. You could join CDU and SPD, and there would be no difference.. Now we just have the choice between AfD and the Left party..

      PS: the Chanzlor is not elected by the german public, nor is the President.. The Party elects there Candidate and the public can only vote for the Party (Parlarment)..
